Foyer Mini Met

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July! It's been a busy week, but I did manage to post a mini met and a small, but practical thrifty find this week. Please visit our lovely hostesses Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch and Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality for more mets and thrifty treasures.

As many of you know, I've been
transforming our home to a more beachy, summery look to lighten things up a little bit. If you'd like to see my family room transformation, you can click here. Well, it was finally time for the foyer. I still had a deep red tapestry runner on the entry table and red hydrangeas, both left over from Christmas decorating, greeting my guests in July. So off it all went.
Two of my candle holders were even missing the candles. See how neglected this space was! And to think, this is the first thing people see when entering my home. For shame!

I started out changing the runner to this natural reed one I got from the
GW last week. I actually found 3 of them at $2.99 each. I knew I could use 2 of them for my long dining table, but I went back and forth trying to decide if I should purchase the third. My very wise 8 year old said, "Just get them all, Mom, you'll find something to do with it." Out of the mouths of babes, sure enough I decided to use this one on my entry table.

I
accessorized using things I already had in other places in the house. I think the blue and white added crispness to the area.

I even foraged our front yard for some
agapanthus (aka Lily of the Nile), twigs, and palm fronds. Agapanthus are blooming all over here in SoCal.

I'm rather pleased at the result, and it only cost me $2.99! So that's my simple contribution for Metamorphosis Monday and Thrifty Treasures Monday. Have a great week everyone and thanks for stopping by the Lace and Ivy Cottage! As usual, your comments make me smile!

Till next time,

Hi Lorna,
What a dramatic change -- and it cost you $2.99???!!! It just shows how magic can happen if our efforts involve taste, imagination, and listening to the wisdom of small children! It also pays to keep our own "inner child" alive and well, doesn't it? I think that's the source of most of our best creative ideas.

Hope your week goes well!

Lorna-What a great change. I'm a "blue girl" so I love it. Isn't it funny how the things we look at everyday become almost invisible to us? Good to look at it with a fresh eye. I need to go check "what I'm not seeing"! :) great post!

I like it both ways. The new is so crisp and clean. BUT, I must have a cluttered heart for I would miss the old way with all its charm.
