Hello dear bloggers! It's Outdoor Wednesday again hosted by Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer. As promised, I give you Part II of beautiful Yosemite, CA.
But before I begin, I'd like to share with you the reason why it's been slow going here at the Lace and Ivy Cottage. You know the expression "Life Happens", well it's been happening all right.
This week, we had the misfortune of some severe water damage due to a broken pipe from a water softener. It destroyed some drywall, carpeting, and a custom built entertainment center in our media room. This once housed a humongous TV. What is it with men, big TVs and a dozen remote controls? I never spent much time here because I don't even know how to turn the TV on!
The water damage was so extensive that it warped much of the built in unit. This is just before demo.
Here's what I'm left with. Nothing but a black hole. Actually, it's black paint from behind the TV. See all the fans and heaters?
This is the opposite side of this floor. This WAS my school room. School resumes on Monday, Aug. 10 and I can't even access our books and supplies.
Needless to say, I'm quite overwhelmed. So I hope you all understand if I take a short break of a week or two until I can get normalcy in my life again. But I promise to have a lot to share when I return, and hopefully some AFTER pictures as well.
So without further ado, I present to you Outdoor Wednesday!
These pictures are courtesy of my Sweet 16 DD during her camping trip to Yosemite.
Rafting along the Merced River.
It's hard to believe there's still snow here, being that the temperatures have been in the triple digits in Southern California.
Happy Outdoor Wednesday, everyone! I'll see you all again in a week or two!
Till next time,

Sorry to hear of the water damage...living on the coast for us, it's almost a given [for coast water reasons, not water softener tho]
Love the Park photos.
My Outdoor Wednesday is a broken heart...come by to visit, won't you?
This is my main blog.
Oh Lorna, (sob, sob)I am sorry to hear about the mishap...But on the brighter side, I have enjoyed the Yosemite photos. Take your time, and hoping the best to your family.
Oh what a shame! Hope it all gets taken care of soon for you.
Love the Yosemite photos again. They bring back such good memories of when I was young.

I am so sorry to hear of the water damage...Ugggh!
Just think of the great before and after shots you will have :)
Love the adventure photos.. Those are lovely.
TTFN~~Claudia ♥
I am so sorry to about the water damage. So disappointing, isn't it. Wonderful pics of Yosemite Park! Aren't mountains amazing!? She got some great shots. Thanks for the look at a place I have never been to. Hugs, ~cindy s~
yuk, you poor thing, good luck in your renovating it.
Oh...I know your pain! We had a basement that seemed to love to be wet and found many ways to accomplish it for the first year we lived in this house. Thankfully, things have been much drier lately, unless you count the a/c drain backup that soaked the carpet and made a huge stink a few weeks ago...sigh.
Sending sympathetic looks your way.

Beautiful outdoor shots, and your daughter is gorgeous!
So sorry about the water damage. That was a very pretty built-in. I'm LOL, though, about you not even knowing how to turn the TV on :)
This is one of the prettiest spots in CA. We were in Mariposa in the spring. Good luck with your clean up and re-build. And learn to use that darn remote!! LOL
So sorry about your broken pipe and water damage, Lorna. I hope the insurance covers it all.Beautiful sceneries and looks like the girls really enjoyed it....Christine
Hi Lorna, love all the pictures and your DD is just lovely!
I hope all gets put back to normal on your end there. That looked liked a big headache!
Glad to be able to stop by today, computer's still on the fritz!
Aw what a bummer. You entertainment center was so nice! I know what you mean about men and big TVs! Why do they have to be so huge? LOL.
All the best,
Allison

Water, water everywhere-Yosemite AND Lorna's house. How horrible! I know you must have a huge mess on your hands, and it is so frustrating to not be able to control your environment. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all of that. Hopefully, things will be back to normal soon. The photos of Yosemite, your daughter, and her friends are beautiful. laurie
Hi Lorna,

We miss you! Hurry back, OK?

A warm hello!.., We just had a hurricane/ tropical storm blow through here in Nova Scotia, Canada; it's warm and dry here usually this time of year, so the rain was welcome, yet the dammage to our roof and resulting water in my office and basement below was not!.., so I do sympathise with you and understand! (We are located an hour away by plane, from Boston, Mass., to give you an idea of where we are).., Please pop by Silken Purse after you get back to normal, and scroll down to see pictures of our Bed and Break fast her in beautiful, seaside Nova Scotia;at Blue Forest Lane B. & B., if you'd like to see where we're located in our little cornr of the globe., Love the pictures of your daughters camping trip.., Stunning! Love your site also!.., I'll check back often, (after you've taken your cleanup and resuming of home schooling break, that is).., Take care and good luck.., Blessings
Hi Lorna! It's so nice to meet you! Thanks for introducing yourself. I see we have lots in common (Catholic, large families, homeschooling and yard sales and thrift stores).
I look forward to reading more of your blog when you get a chance.
Greetings Lorna I'm finally back from my summer long blogcation.
So sorry to hear about the water damage. I know how frustrating the clean up and repairs can be, but before you know it...you'll have everything better than new!
Looks like a wonderful water adventure in Yosemite!
I know you like ideas for your teas. Well, I hope you'll be inspired by my latest post for your next tea venue.
I've enjoyed catching up. Please stop by...I look forward to the return of your company.
Sweet wishes,
